Hussein Lamps

Space-efficient, sculptural pendant lamps inspired by Hussein Chalayan.



I noticed a gap in the market for simple, voluminous lamps that aren’t paper lanterns. As a technical study, I reversed-engineered the process Hussein Chalayan used for his ‘Duck’ dress made for his 2000 S/S collection.

The lampshade is made by densely packing tulle ruffles which is later shaved into novel shapes. The result is a novel lamp shade that uses minimal processes and can be easily stored.
